drop
thud oops is a trio from Northwestern New Jersey, best
known for their uncanny ability to combine melodic,
well written tunes with jaw-dropping technical virtuosity.
This seldom achieved fusion of funk, jazz, and blues-based
rock is turning heads, raising eyebrows, and breaking
wind like no others.
The
band's sound has been compared to such diverse acts
as Phish, Steely Dan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Cock
Flinch. As a result, this grooving ensemble has attracted
a wide variety of true music and pizza lovers.
dto's
live shows are always unpredictable, with musical guests
jumping into the fray on horns, keys, harmonica, percussion
and even the occasional underwear string banjo.
Originally
formed in 1994, the boys played countless local venues,
Manhattan clubs, backyard barbecue beer bashes and supermarket/concert
parking lots before getting signed to ASi Music Group
in 1998. The subsequent release of their first full
length album, beep beep boom, saw drop thud oops
finally start to achieve long awaited recognition.
Described
as "percolating groove... really great songs"
in Musichead Magazine and "soulful, swinging, jazz
rock" by AudioVisions Monthly, the album has sold well, thanks to several
high profile
gigs including:
- Rampage
on the River
- MusikFest
- Morristown
New Year's Eve First Night
- TV13,
Coffeebreak with Kim Bell
Two
performances at the Meadowlands, Giants Stadium, highlighted
by multiple mentions on the Howard Stern Show concerning
those appearances.
Locally,

WDHA, 95.5 WZZO, and 91.9 WNTI. They have shared the

"beep
beep boom combines many different grooves
and feels (jazz, blues, funk, ska & a slight
70's twinge). These different grooves are combined
especially well on "Spun and Arbor Day".
Another high point can be heard on the mellowed-Goldfinger/Greenday
vibe on "Dough". An interesting
song, "Phrygian Waltz", where a jazzy
opening gives way to bouts of blues & funk"
